This tutorial describes how to convert DVD movies to iPod .MP4 format and the easy way to put DVD on iPod. After these great jobs, you can joyfully enjoy your DVD movies on the Apple iPod.

Convert DVD to iPod .MP4 files

1. Download Xilisoft DVD to iPod Converter.

   

2. Run Xilisoft DVD to iPod Converter. To load your DVD into the program please choose "Add DVD Folder" in the File menu or directly click the "DVD" button in the main interface, then select your DVD-ROM in the pop-up window and press the "OK" button.
   
   

3. You may convert the whole DVD by highlighting the title which contains the whole episodes of DVD, such as the title 01 on the following screenshot. Alternatively you may select certain chapters to convert: Press "Show Chapters" button on the interface to find all the chapters in the file.
   
   
   
   Highlight the chapters you want to convert or just leave all the chapters selected.

4. Set the output format by selecting the target output format in the "Profile" combo-box in the bottom of the window. You may select different output formats for different files. The result of the settings will be shown in the list. By selecting iPod MPEG-4 Movie format (*.mp4) in the "Profile" combo-box, you may set the output format to iPod MP4.
   
   Note: In the latest version, there are iPod MPEG-4 Movie format (*.mp4) for both 30G and 60G, please choose the suitable output video size for your own iPod.
   
   

5. After selecting certain output format, the column in the right side of the windows is filled with the default values of the specified format. You may change these values if you like. For example, you may set the Video Bit Rate to 512, 250, 718 kbps etc. Or you may leave the default settings (the developers of the program consider them the best, although you mignt prefer to use different ones).
   
   

6. To select the output folder please click the "Browse..." button in the bottom of the window (or directly enter the desired path into the "Destination" box).
   
   

7. Finally, select the chapter(s) you want to convert, right-click on the chapter name and select "Rip Selected" from the menu. The conversion process will start.
   
   

8. After successfull conversion to iPod MP4 format, you may transfer .MP4 files to your iPod

Transfer .MP4 files to Apple iPod

1. Press the "Open..." button near the "Destionation" box on the bottom of the window.
   
   
   
   (Or just use the Windows Explorer to open the folder with .MP4 files).

2. Select the converted MP4 file and copy or drag-n-drop them to the iTunes.

3. Pull the file list under the iTunes to your iPod. After that you may see the file(s) under the "Recently Added" list of your iPod menu.
